Band-stop Filter (also known as band-elimination, band-reject, or notch filters) can be made by placing a low-pass filter in parallel a high-pass filter. If noise occurs in communication, the signal will be distorted, resulting in output error. In order to reduce this unnecessary harmonic and error, the band stop filter can be used effectively.
A band-stop filter works to screen out frequencies that are within a certain range, giving easy passage only to frequencies outside of that range. The frequency of maximum attenuation is called the Notch Frequency.
